LAW
STUDENT OUTREACH
GAYLAW's Law Student Outreach Committee works with local law
school GLBT organizations to develop educational programs and
networking opportunities.
Mentor-Mentee Program:
GAYLAW sponsors a Mentor-Mentee Program, pairing law students,
law graduates and junior lawyers with experienced attorneys.
The Program provides GLBT students with a professional resource
for educational and career advice, and to learn the challenges
and rewards of practicing law in the Nation's capital. If you
are a law student, law graduate or junior lawyer and wish to
be paired with a mentor, complete and fax in our form.

For practitioners, the Program affords an opportunity
to give back to the community by sharing their professional
experience with law students and graduates and mentoring the
next generation of attorneys. This Program usually kicks-off
with a Fall networking social that allows the students, graduates
and practitioners to socialize, and the mentors and mentees to
be formally introduced. If you would like to serve as a Mentor,
complete and fax in our form. Click here.
Summer Job Talk:
GAYLAW sponsors an annual Summer Job Talk for those law students
working in D.C. during summer break. Topics include interviewing
as a GLBT student and working in D.C. as a GLBT attorney.
The Job Talk features a panel of attorneys from a wide
range within the profession, including large firm partners, solo
and small firm practitioners, policy lawyers from NGOs
and nonprofits and lawyers working in the government, such as
Department of Justice attorneys and military Judge Advocate
Generals.
